Dog Events For July 2012 , Dog, Cat and other Pet Friendly Travel ...

A great way to spoil your dog is to bring them to an event where they can meet new friends, sample some great treats, and participate in competitions and contests. Attending pet events in your area is a good way to bond with your pet, spend time with the whole family, and meet other pet lovers. Plus, many events benefit humane societies and other charities and helps homeless pets in your community.

What: 1st Annual Washington Week For The Animals

Animal World USA is hosting the 1st Washington Week for the Animals. It celebrates the unique and life-changing role that pets play in our lives and will bring together educators, animal shelters, sanctuaries, advocates, artists, and many others in one place. The week long event will be packed with pet adoption events, festivities, and a blessing of the animals. There will also be low-cost microchipping and other low-cost veterinary services available.

What: Mt. Tabor Doggie Dash
Where: Mt. Tabor Park SE 60th Ave and SE Salmon St Portland, OR

2012 Mt. Tabor Doggie Dash is a fun run through Mt. Tabor Park along a tree-lined path. After the race grab some good food, a cold beer, and listen to the bands. Your kids, your pups, and you will have a fun day in the park.

There is an 8K and 5K course and a kids course. The kids race is a non-timed ? mile event and is $5 without a t-shirt. The registration for the dash begins at 8:30am where you can pick up your packet. The kids ? mile starts at 9:40am. The 5K walk/run and 8K walk/run begin at 10am. You can register online. The cost of registration varies depending on whether or not you want a t-shirt.

What: Bark For Life ? San Francisco 2012
Where: Crissy Field 1199 East Beach San Francisco, CA
When: July 21, 2012 9am to 2pm
Admission: $25 prior to event day/ $35 day of the event
Benefits: American Cancer Society

Bark For Life is a walk even for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness of the American Cancer Society?s fight against cancer. By participating in the event, it helps save lives, and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. Enter your dog in the ?My dog is cuter than your dog? contest! The top 2 dogs chosen will be featured on the 2013 Bark For Life of San Francisco Website, Facebook, and poster. It?s only $10 to enter the contest. After the walk, there will be demonstrations, contests (such as the one mentioned), and games.

Those who register and raise an additional $100 will receive a Bark For Life retractable leash, and those who raise more will be eligible to receive more great prizes.

What: Go Dog, Go! Canine Festival and Dog Walk

Go Dog, Go! is a family day long event full of games, demonstrations, contests, and more. Pet product vendors, canine clubs, and adoption societies will be there as well as great music, food, and entertainment. Admission is free but if you want to participate in the dog walk, it is $20. All dogs are welcome as long as they are over 6 months of age, well-behaved, and are on a short leash.
